Prepare your taste buds as we tour the best restaurants in Redmond Oregon. From relaxing brunch joints to authentic Mexican to farm-to-table American and so much more, Redmond Oregon restaurants have a lot to offer.
Although often overlooked by visitors to Central Oregon in favor of Bend, Redmond is the second largest city in the region and growing. In the last two decades, numerous new restaurants in Oregon have opened.
In this article, you’ll get a taste of the top restaurants in Redmond Oregon. As local’s, we’ll give you our tips to make the most of each location.
Breakfast and Brunch in Redmond
Redmond has several great breakfast and brunch restaurants, which have supported the local demand for lazy morning chit chat and relaxing in the Central Oregon sunshine. As frequent partaker’s ourselves, here we mention the local favorites: three locally owned and one regional chain.
One Street Down Café
One Street Down Café is probably our favorite local brunch spot. With flavorful savory and sweet classics, you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. The coffee is solid, and the vibe is welcoming. A cozy interior dining room is accompanied by a few nice tables outside. We love coming here on a sunny weekend morning and sitting outside.
Local Tip: The delicious food at One Street Down draws crowds, but usually has relatively short wait times (especially compared to many Bend restaurants). That said, it’s not a bad idea to expect a wait during weekends. If there is a wait, explore some of downtown Redmond or the nearby Dry Canyon.
Mo’s Egg House
Mo’s Egg House is a local family-owned breakfast restaurant close to downtown. Mo’s is very highly rated and the regular weekend spot for many locals. You are served homemade coffee cake with each meal. Give it a try!
Local Tip: There is a yoga studio right next to the Mo’s if you want to burn some calories and build up an appetite before breakfast!
Christie’s Kitchen
Christie’s Kitchen is a local favorite among breakfast and lunch lovers in Redmond. There is a pleasant, shaded outside patio and nice indoor dining room. The whole vibe is quite relaxing and welcoming. Vegans and dairy free folk will appreciate the variety of options.
Local Tip: To help burn off those bacon slices, walk west from Christie’s Kitchen 10 – 15 minutes to reach the Dry Canyon, a long park in Redmond with natural areas, a dog park, playground, and tennis/pickleball courts. Alternatively, head south a few blocks and explore downtown.
The Original Pancake House
The Original Pancake House is a chain breakfast restaurant with a classic American breakfast menu. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, and bacon. Does it ever get old! Also kid friendly. The Redmond location is highly rated. Fun fact: there are over 100 franchised locations in the US and the first one was in Portland.
Local Tip: Check out the Redmond Caves, a lava tube and popular attraction right down the road from the Pancake House. The caves take no more than an hour or two to explore and offer a unique Central Oregon experience (there are over 700 caves in Deschutes County).
Overall Best Restaurants in Redmond
Okay that’s enough of breakfast. Let’s get into lunch and dinner. Here we present our top 5 restaurants in Redmond, covering a variety of cuisine types. All of these are located in the downtown area.
Carnival Mexican Grill
Redmond has a variety of quality Mexican restaurants and Carnival Mexican Grill is among the top. Their extensive menu is delicious latin cuisine including ceviche, carnitas de puerco, and carne asada. I am getting hungry just thinking about it. This is one of several Mexican restaurants in Redmond that we can’t get enough of.
Local Tip: Carnival is right downtown. Take a few minutes after dinner to explore. Hop into the Wayfarer Club, just a short walk south, for a cocktail if you didn’t get your fill of margaritas.
Grace and Hammer
Grace and Hammer is a historic church that the owners have ambitiously restored and converted into a snazzy pizza restaurant. Of course, the resulting interior ambiance of the church is impressive and pairs well with pizza and beer.
There is also a large outdoor deck with more seating. Overall, Grace and Hammer is great for a casual dinner with friends or the whole family. Who doesn’t love pizza and beer?
Local Tip: Grab a drink next door at Kobold Brewery to wash down all that pizza. Check Kobold’s instagram page to see when trivia or live music is happening.
Feast Food Company
Feast Food Company is a food-truck-turned-sit-down restaurant just north of downtown Redmond. Serving primarily American food, they source their ingredients locally and merge those ingredients artfully into excellent dishes.
Feast is a bit on the fancy side but not too much to make you feel guilty. We love Feast for dinner with the parents or the occasional date night.
Local Tip: Grab a drink and play some pool before or after Feast just across the street at Otto’s Landing.
Terra Kitchen
Terra Kitchen is a high-quality restaurant in the SCP Redmond Hotel, located in the heart of downtown Redmond. The menu is primarily plant-based but does have a few meat or seafood dishes.
All their ingredients are high quality and locally sourced, emphasizing farm to table vibes. Their homemade bread is delicious. Slightly upscale, Terra is a great spot for date night or a nice meal with family.
Local Tip: Grab a well-crafted cocktail from the hotel’s ground floor bar called the Wayfarer Club or head upstairs to their rooftop terrace for amazing views. Their margarita is our favorite.
Brickhouse
Brickhouse in downtown Redmond is an upscale steak and fish house situated in a charming setting. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating options, with excellent service staff ensuring a top-notch dining experience.
The blackened ribeye with a lobster tail stands out as a must-try entrée, or go for the bacon wrapped scallops. The ambiance highlights a blend of elegance and comfort, making it an ideal spot for a special date night or celebratory dinner.
Local Tip: Save some room for their blackberry cobbler for dessert!
Mexican Food in Redmond
Who doesn’t love Mexican food? Certainly not us. We are spoiled living here with so many tasty Mexican restaurants in Redmond. In fact, it is probably the single most popular cuisine in Redmond.
Carnival Mexican Grill
We mentioned Carnival already above, but it is worth including here for completeness. With a variety of authentic Mexican and American dishes, you can’t go wrong!
Diego’s Spirited Kitchen
Diego’s Spirited Kitchen is similar to Carnival Mexican Grill and Madeline’s Grill and Steakhouse in that they serve both traditional Mexican food and American Cuisine. That said, their food is not to be overlooked and the menu is extensive ensuring everyone will find something they like.
There are also a few outdoor tables both in the front of the restaurant and in the back. People love the Pork Osso Bucco which is beautifully presented. Overall, Diego’s should be on your list!
Madeline’s Grill and Steakhouse
Madeline’s Grill and Steakhouse offers a delightful fusion of steaks and Mexican cuisine. The service has always been quick and friendly for us (even when they’re busy), the indoor dining room is great, and the quality of food is excellent.
You can’t really go wrong at Madeline’s. Just thinking about their chips and salsa has my mouth watering. The only downside is there is no outdoor dining space and the location is not downtown.
Hola Mexican
Hola is yet another highly rated Mexican restaurant in Redmond. Complimenting the Bend locations, Hola is a successful local chain for a reason: solid Mexican and Peruvian cuisine. Margaritas and ceviche are among the top recommended items.
Their lomo saltado, a Peruvian beef and veggie stir fry, is delicious! The Redmond location has fun colors inside and is a great place for a casual dinner with good food.
Rigoberto’s
Rigoberto’s is our favorite drive through burrito in Redmond (and honestly beyond). If we have more time, we might sit down inside. Overall, Rigoberto’s has great Mexican food at an affordable price point. It’s hard to beat!
Local Tip: Grab a burrito from their drive through before you hit the road to your next Central Oregon adventure.
Asian Food in Redmond
Oishi Japanese
Oishi is an excellent Japanese restaurant in downtown Redmond that serves all the good sushi, bento, and teriyaki you can eat. The indoor dining room has a great vibe and the service has always been great for us. If you want sit-down Japanese in Redmond, look no further than Oishi.
Thai O
Thai O is Redmond’s spot for Thai Food. The food is as tasty as the next Thai place. The interior lacks ambiance and feels sort of like a cafeteria. We’ve gotten takeout a few times and it has yet to disappoint. This is the only Thai restaurant in the area.
Chan’s of Redmond – Chinese
Chan’s is Redmond’s go to for Chinese takeout or sit down. It’s pretty much what you would expect from a modest Chinese restaurant. We enjoy their take out from time to time!
Burgers in Redmond
Like most American towns, burgers and beer are always a hit in Redmond and there is no shortage. We are lucky to have at least three great places to get a burger and beer.
Redmond Burger Company
Redmond Burger Company has had success in both Bend (as Bend Burger Company) and Redmond. Serving burgers, beer, sandwiches and salads, you won’t be leaving hungry, especially if you get one of their heavenly milkshakes for dessert. Come here on a sunny day and sit outside on their large patio.
Initiative Brewing
Initiative Brewing is a locally owned brewery and restaurant. Fries, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, bowls, and beer! They have a nice indoor dining room and bar and great patio for warmer days. This is one of our go to spots for a casual dinner.
Cascade Lakes Brewing
Cascade Lakes Brewing was founded in 1994 making it one of the older breweries in Central Oregon. They are also the first and only not-for-profit brewery in Central Oregon. They have two brewpubs: one in Bend and in Redmond.
Other American Food in Redmond
Feast and Terra
We mentioned Feast and Terra above among the best restaurants in Redmond but including again here for completeness. They are both unique and worthwhile.
E BarGrill
E BarGrill is an American restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are large portions, an indoor and outdoor dining area, and frequent sports. Overall, a great spot for lunch and beyond, especially on a sunny day outside or when the game is on.
Local Tip: Grab a beer at Wild Ride brewing just south of E BarGrill.
Coffee in Redmond
Junction Roastery
Junction Roastery has it all, including amazing roasted-in-house coffee, pastries, indoor and outdoor seating, and a pleasant interior design. This is Abby’s favorite place to work remotely or meet with a friend and enjoy a coffee.
Local Tip: Grab your cup of joe to go and explore the nearby park and downtown area to see some of Redmond. Alternatively, they usually have some games to play and hang out for a while.
Tite Knot Craft Coffee
Tite Knot Craft Coffee has solid coffee and a bakery in a pleasant setting. There is indoor and outdoor seating with a large lawn great for kids and dogs. Overall, Tite Knot is a great spot to enjoy the Central Oregon morning sunshine, coffee, and baked pastries and muffins.
Local Tip: Pair your coffee with one of their tasty muffins. Ask for a homemade dog treat for your pup.
Taphouses, Breweries, and Wine Bars in Redmond
Wild Ride Brewery
Wild Ride Brewery is a local hub in downtown Redmond that has an inviting ambiance and a reasonably priced beer selection. Pair your tasty drinks with food from one of several excellent food trucks.
The spacious outdoor patio is a common gathering spot for locals during warmer months and is full of chit chat on any given weekend.
Wild Ride is one of our favorite places to meet with friends and family as the outdoor patio is especially suitable for larger groups and often easy to find a spot.
We also appreciate that Wild Ride has some of the cheapest pints in town, and the brews are always great. If you’re brave, try one of their beer slushies, but we might prefer our beer and slushies separate.
Local Tip: Swing by on Wednesdays (local’s night) for discounted drinks, and check out their events page to see when there is live music.
General Duffy’s Waterhole
General Duffy’s Waterhole is a laid-back taphouse with a small indoor seating area and a large outdoor patio with fire pits and food carts. There is a fair-sized stage that hosts primarily country artists.
They also recently opened a restaurant. Overall, Generally Duffy’s is a great place to grab a bite to eat and some beer, or plan for a country concert in the summer.
Local Tip: The Chinese food cart is really solid. We love the spicy noodles and wonton soup.
Blacksmith Public House
Blacksmith Public House is an excellent spot for the whole family. In addition to local beers there is a large variety of food trucks surrounding tons of outdoor seating and a small lawn that is great for kids to play in.
Each time we go, there seems to always be a fun band playing live music or other event going on. Overall, Blacksmith is a great place to grab a bite to eat and a few drinks and bring the kids along.
Local Tip: They also serve ice cream and coffee!
Otto’s Landing
Otto’s Landing is a local favorite to grab a few brews and some food from one of several food trucks. There is a large bar and lots of tables inside with TVs showing sports. Outside there are more tables and lots of patio space.
Otto’s also has dedicated spaces for kids to play so bring them and the dogs! There are also two pool tables, dart boards, and a semi-private room to watch the big game. We live nearby and come to Otto’s a lot (perhaps too much) and always have a good time.
Local Tip: The upstairs porch is an excellent spot to sit and want the sunset on a warm evening.
Kobold Brewing
Kobold Brewing makes beer in Central Oregon and has a pub in downtown Redmond. In addition to solid beers, they host fun events like trivia in their small indoor space and outdoor patio.
There is typically a food truck as well. Overall, Kobold is a local favorite to enjoy a cold one and a conversation.
Local Tip: Kobold has an excellent trivia night (see their events page).
Initiative Brewing
Initiative Brewing is a great spot for a burger and a beer. Their indoor seating and bar is homey and inviting, and they have a nice shaded outdoor patio in the warmer months. We come here occasionally with friends and family and it is the perfect place to enjoy some local brews and solid burgers.
Local Tip: In the summers, there is usually a fruit and veggie tent set up just across the street. It’s worth getting some local and regional produce.
Rimrock Taphouse
Rimrock Taphouse is close to downtown (everything is in Redmond). They have a huge selection of draft beers and other drinks, the usual pub food, and sports on screens. There is also a great outdoor patio for warmer days. Overall a great place for a beer or two, but they are adult only.
Local Tip: Local’s night is tuesday.
Equine Wine Bar
Equine Wine Bar serves a variety of wine in a homey and relaxed atmosphere near downtown Redmond. Tucked away on a side street, this wine bar was originally a wine cart that could be hired out for events.
Now, the wine cart continues alongside a physical location that is a local favorite for wine fans in Redmond. They focus on local and regional wines that can be enjoyed inside or on their outdoor patio.
Testimony Wine Bar
Testimony Wine Bar is a newer and welcomed addition to Redmond and is quickly becoming a favorite spot to socialize. The owners focus on local and regional wines that can be enjoyed alongside small plates.
